“Raising Awareness for The Ocean Conference through the Power of Music and Creating a Global Community Change”

In September 2015, 193 world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development. If these Goals are completed it would mean an end to extreme poverty, inequality and climate change by 2030. The Global Goals are only going to work if we fight for them and you can’t fight for your rights if you don’t know what they are. We believe the Goals are only going to be completed if we can make them famous.

We Are The Oceans (WATO) and United Nations Office of Projects and Services (UNOPS), partnered with One Ocean FM during the UN June World Oceans Week to start making Goal 14 famous!

One Ocean FM is a fresh Internet radio station, streaming beach, ocean and earth music 24 hrs. a day over the internet – with no commercial breaks. The mission is to raise awareness about the threats our oceans face and what needs to be done to protect it. On the hour, every hour we provide short informative packages on some of the issues and inspiring solutions.

During the ocean conference in June, we gathered 20 inspiring interviews from various world leaders, NGO community, celebrities and all manner of organisations whom are working tirelessly to ensure the future health of our ocean. Key figures included Fabien Cousteau, Dr. Sylvia Earle, Grete Faremo, Jose Maria Figueres and Oliver Steed!

All of our podcasts are free to download on Mixcloud.

We are excited to announce during Ocean Week our content was shared with a global network of partner radio stations, covering Europe, Asia and North America, with a combined reach of over 50 million people!

We also partnered with WeTransfer, who donated oneocean.fm branded space on their website, reaching their user database of 100 million people from across the globe a month.

We hope to continue attending various important ocean event moments throughout the year. The purpose is to gather vital content from the most influential leaders in ocean conservation and take that message to our growing community of listeners.
